Minnesota traded for LaMelo Ball, sending Naz Reid and draft capital to Charlotte. The Wolves now pair two 30%-usage guards: Anthony Edwards (30.9% usage, 61.7% TS) and LaMelo Ball (30.6% usage, 38.4% assist rate). That is 61.5% combined usage — basketball's hardest math. The fit case is real (a pure setup man beside a pure finisher), and so is the danger (two ball-dominant, below-average defenders who both live above the break). Here is exactly how it fits, and where it breaks.

NYK 94, SAS 90 · Series 4-1 · 4 in double figures
The New York Knicks are NBA champions. They beat San Antonio 4-1, closing it out on the road in Game 5, 94-90, for the franchise’s first title since 1973. Jalen Brunson took Finals MVP with 32.6 points a game and 45 in the clincher. They won it on defense, holding the Spurs to 102 a game after San Antonio had averaged 115.3 through the first three rounds.

Karl-Anthony Towns is shooting better in the playoffs than he did all season. Over 19 games he is at 55.1% from the field and 45.6% from three, up from 50.1% and 36.8% in the regular season. He has stopped settling. His paint share is up to 65.8%, and he has all but abandoned the mid-range. The blocks have more than doubled, 0.53 to 1.26 a game. The Knicks beat Atlanta 4-2 in Round 1 and swept Philadelphia 4-0 in the Conference Semifinals and swept Cleveland 4-0 in the Conference Finals.

Victor Wembanyama has been the best defender in these playoffs, and it is not close. Over 22 games he is blocking 3.55 shots a night, up from 3.08 in the regular season, with a 12-block game against Minnesota on May 4 in the mix. His scoring is down a touch from the 25 a game he averaged in the regular season, and his shooting has held about steady. The story is everything he erases at the other end. San Antonio beat Portland 4-1 in Round 1 and beat Minnesota 4-2 in the Conference Semifinals and beat Oklahoma City 4-3 in the Conference Finals.
Reg Season → Playoffs · BPG 3.08 → 3.55 · FG 51.2% → 48.3% · 3PT 34.9% → 33.6%

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander kept scoring in the playoffs, but the efficiency slipped. Over 15 games his field goal percentage fell from 55.3% in the regular season to 46.3%, and his three-point shot dropped from 38.6% to 30.5%. He was still the first option every possession, just at a steeper price. Oklahoma City swept Phoenix 4-0 in Round 1 and swept Los Angeles 4-0 in the Conference Semifinals and lost to San Antonio 4-3 in the Conference Finals, finishing 11-4 in the postseason.
Reg Season → Playoffs · FG 55.3% → 46.3% · 3PT 38.6% → 30.5% · OKC playoff record: 11-4
